Students + Young Professionals

Planning is underway to design sessions and activities designed especially for the young professional at AIHce. Students and IHs in the early stages of their careers are encouraged to participate in as many events as possible.

PAL Program

Students or first-time AIHce attendees can be paired with a Personal AIHce Liaison, a.k.a. PAL—a seasoned conference-goer who will help you get the most out of the conference. You can sign up as a first-timer or a PAL when you register for conference.

Enjoy your lunch break while discussing topics and issues of specific interest to young industrial hygienists or those new to the profession. Table Topics take place on Monday afternoon in the Expo Hall. Purchase your lunch, select a discussion, and enjoy. Topics include:

Mentoring Program Networking Event

Join us at the Mentoring Program’s fourth annual networking event, open to all participating members of AIHA’s Mentoring Program, as well as to students and professionals. This event is for individuals who are actively seeking a mentor as well as individuals who are committed to serve as a mentor. The Mentoring Program is an excellent way to get involved in the community, build your network, and support the development of a fellow professional.

Meet other student local section officers to share best practices and ideas. Anyone interested in creating a student local section is invited to attend.

Students + Early Career Professionals Committee (SECP) Meeting

Wednesday, June 3rd, 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Marriott Downtown, Grand Ballroom D

Interact with members of the SECP committee. Discuss current and new projects focused on developing outreach materials and mentoring students and early career industrial hygienists. Students are encouraged to attend.

Volunteer Group Meetings

More than 40 volunteer groups meet to discuss a variety of technical and non-technical topics, including many that address student needs.  Unless otherwise noted, volunteer group meetings are open to everyone.

Student Poster Session

Wednesday, June 3, 10:00 a.m. – noon, Expo

Check out the scientific findings of your peers at the 24th Annual Student Poster Session. Students will discuss their research, and two posters will be selected “Best of Session.”

Awards given by AIHA Volunteer Groups will be presented at 12:30 p.m.

New Volunteer Orientation

Wednesday, June 3, 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Hilton, Canyon C

Volunteers are at the heart of AIHA’s mission. AIHA volunteers serve on technical committees, publish articles and papers, comment on legislation and regulations, teach professional development courses, and so much more.

This one-hour session will give you an overview of volunteering at AIHA, show you where you can contribute your skills and abilities, and help you see how volunteering can help you in your IH career.
